UC claimant-Shared Custody of 3 children - Sat, 13/05/2023 - 19:58
Single father over 25years-has fought and successful in being awarded shared custody with court papers to evidence this.
He still lives in 3 bed property, the same property before the couple broke up. The children 2 girls aged 4 and 7yrs/boy aged 2 with disability. Not an amicable separation and mother refusing any finances to support the children when he has them. Will start the application to clear rent arrears and put a DHP in place, (although not sure if i should approach the LA to cover the extra beds or UC housing costs). How can i help him ensure that he is not bringing up his 3 children on shared custody of 50% when they are in his care whilst he receives a standard rate of £251.19 due to sanction being deducted to live off every month. The partner claims CB for the 1st 2 children and DLA enhanced care and mobility for the youngest child, she is also a UC claimant and receives the benefits accordingly. In which direction should i take this, who and how would i ensure that he is given some help so that he has the impossible task of feeding 4 people on an allowance meant for 1 person 50% of each week. Thank you in advance as i don't want to be ignorant of anything that could help. Social services involvement supporting his partner with the children and she is expecting another baby in July from another partner.
