3rd party deductions- (the government say) will be suspended for a month until 10/5/2020 and then are due to resume  .During training, we are also hearing that rent arrears deductions also appear to be suspended.Third party deductions are payments which are automatically deducted from a claimant's legacy benefit or Universal Credit standard allowance and used to pay back outstanding debts, such as rent arrears, utility bills or council tax arrears. The DWP have made the decision to pause these deductions to free up time for staff to process new Universal Credit claims.

No to Universal Basic income- The government has said 'There are fundamental problems with the reality of a Universal Basic Income (UBI). A fat rate UBI would not take into account people’s circumstances, and the additional costs faced by some individuals.'

and also-

No to an Increase in the Benefit Cap- Local Housing Allowances(LHA's) have increased but those affected by the Benefit Cap will not feel the advantage- '...Claimants can approach their Local Authority for a Discretionary Housing Payment if they need additional help to meet rental costs.'
