From 10/6/2015 the law changes so that EEA nationals who are jobseekers and their family members with a right to reside in the UK will no longer be treated as being habitually resident for the purposes of Universal Credit entitlement.

This will include all allowances and elements(including the housing element) and effectively makes the rules tougher than for the current system which might allow JSA to be paid typically for three months but not Housing Benefit.

The new rule will initially apply to those in the digital service area(mainly Sutton and Croydon) Click here for the DWP guidance.
