From 17/11/2014, areas with postcodes beginning: CH (Chester); HD (Huddersfield); L (Liverpool); and M (Manchester) will be 'invited' to claim PIP if -

  • ●  the Department receives information about a change in their care or mobility needs;

  • ●  their fixed term award is due to expire;

  • ●  the claimant turns 16; or

  • ●  the claimant wishes to make a PIP claim.

    The government has also responded to complaints about delays in assessment by Capita or Atos.
    They say that no one should be waiting for more than 16 weeks for an assessment. This is to be achieved by taking on more staff, having more paper assessments, better IT and an improved assessment form.
