The Public Accounts committee has recommended urgent action-Penalty clauses (service credits) should be invoked where necessary, clear the backlog of claims before the extension of natural migration across the country, take measures to ensure claimants are kept up to date, ensure a processing target of 7 days for claims from the terminally ill, establish a mechanism for expediting claims from people who may not have a terminal diagnosis, but who have rapidly deteriorating conditions and due to claimants often taking longer than 4 weeks to return their PIP2 form, consult stakeholders on the adequacy of the PIP claim form and the accompanying information provided to claimants.
