Atos HealthCare has been awarded most of the contracts to carry out the medical tests for the forthcoming Personal Independence Payment(PIP).
The PIP assessment competition has now been completed and the preferred bidders for each of the Lots in Britain are:
Lot 1 – Atos Healthcare- Scotland, NE England, NW England & Isle of Man
Lot 2 – Capita Business Services Ltd- Wales, Central England
Lot 3 – Atos Healthcare- London, South England
Under PIP, the Government is aiming to get rid off the self assessment process that exists for DLA and introduce medical assessment similar to those claiming Employment and Support Allowance. Atos currently provide all medical assessments for the much criticised Work Capability Assessment.
