Personal Independence Payment will be assessed under a scoring system  involving descriptors and a points based system (like Employment and Support Allowance).  A new regulation has usefully prescribed that when helping clients to decide if they can or can’t perform certain tasks,  the following should be taken into account-

· 'safely'-in a manner unlikely to cause harm to the client/ another person, either during or after completion of the activity.

· ‘to an acceptable standard’- not defined.

· 'repeatedly'-as often as the activity being assessed is reasonably required to be completed; and

· 'reasonable time period'-no more than twice as long as the maximum period that a person without a physical or mental condition which limits that person’s ability to carry out the activity in question would normally take to complete that activity.      Click here for our Personal Independent Payment 2013 course.
