The government has issued regulations which alter the dates when natural migration will take for claimants of DLA to PIP.

Originally set for the start of October 2013,  then moved to the end,  the government now state that natural migration will only begin when they are ready.  There will be a phased introduction,  with further specific details yet to be announced.

  1. '7.6 The Department’s latest analysis of the new end-to-end claim journey suggests that the process is taking longer than expected at a number of points, including the assessments by the Providers. The Department therefore intends to introduce natural reassessment in a more gradual way; to enable the Secretary of State to feel satisfied that satisfactory arrangements are in place to assess a person’s entitlement to PIP and thereby adopting a phased approach by limiting the numbers of existing DLA claimants invited to claim PIP or choosing to do so. This controlled approach will allow the Department to analyse the reassessment journey before widening the process.

  2. 7.7  These Regulations amend the PIP Transitional Regulations to ensure that natural reassessment only applies where suitable arrangements are in place to carry out an assessment. The Department will publish on the Government website (www.gov.uk) details of the means by which it will control natural reassessment shortly.'
