Disabled people often miss out on the severe disability premium.

We'd like to offer our help in helping you identify possible claims for the severe disability premium.

Please post your comments/ queries on our discussion forum.

The severe disability premium is paid as part of means tested benefits and is worth £58.20 per week.  A brief summary of the rules states that it may be payable if the following 3 conditions are met-

  • someone gets middle or high rate DLA or attendance allowance
  • the person either lives alone or with someone who also gets those benefit(or is registered blind)
  • no one is paid carers allowance for them

It can take a detailed knowledge of DLA/  Carers Allowance and means tested benefits to identify whether it is advisable to claim.
