The government has stated that it intends by early 2013 to have changed regulations and processes so that more people undergoing treatment for cancer will qualify to enter the ESA support group.  The rules will be changed,  after consultation with groups such as Macmillan,  to allow claimants to be treated as having limited capability for work related activity if-either clients are-’Awaiting, receiving or recovering from treatment by way of chemotherapy irrespective of route’ or  ‘Awaiting, receiving or recovering from radiotherapy’.   The 6 month rule for expected treatment will also be dropped.   Assessment should be easier with most ’assessed on the supporting medical evidence without needing a face-to-face assessment.’
