The government estimates (using its DWP Policy Simulation Model)-

'There are an estimated 1.7 million disabled people of working age who are

in receipt of a means-tested beneft but not in receipt of Personal

Independence Payment or an equivalent disability beneft in England, and an

estimated 0.6 million of pension age.'

Meanwhile, on 18/3/2025 the government launched a consultation 'Pathways

to Work: Reforming Benefts and Support to Get Britain Working Green Paper'.

It closes on 20/6/2025. The details around some of the cuts to PIP are still to be

ironed out.

There are 9 public consultation events.

One proposal by the government is change the assessment criteria for PIP. For

example to require that claimants must score at least four points in at least one

.

daily living activity to be entitled to the standard rate of the Daily Living

component.

The Government has issued fgures indicating how many people might be

affected by this-
