WELFARE BENEFIT APPEALS 2019

All our courses are updated to include changes in the Benefits System. Courses can be run at a basic or more experienced level and usually last one day.

This course is aimed at those who would like to build expertise challenging decisions- strengthening a client's case and preparing for and, if necessary,  representing at first tier Welfare Benefits Tribunals. 

It uses a real PIP case.

This course will include-

  • which Welfare Benefit decisions are/ aren't appealable 
  • mandatory reconsideration before appeals
  • time limits
  • Housing Benefit and Tax Credit decisions
  • using a real PIP case- preparation-   gathering evidence relevant to the date of decision,  statute and caselaw including Commissioner and Upper Tribunal decisions,  tips/  tactics,  submissions 
  • the process- roll of both the advocate and tribunals, paper/ oral hearings,  what happens on the day of the tribunal
  • what happens after the tribunal- whether you win or lose(grounds of appeal to the Upper Tribunal)

duration— 1 day 10am- 4pm

Course Level- Update (for delegates with at least a good basic knowledge of the Benefits system)

Course accreditation- the Solicitors Regulation Authority has authorised us to award 5.25 hours Continuing Professional Development(CPD) points for solicitors attending this course. Our allocated CPD reference is EJV/SWTL.

Cancellation

If you cancel the course more than 3 weeks before the commencement date, then a £55 administration fee will be payable. The course fee will remain payable if you cancel the course within 3 weeks of the commencement date. If we cancel the course, then full refunds will be paid to participants (excluding other costs, such as travel).

Transfers

You are free to transfer places between employees within your organisation at no extra cost.

cost- online 1 day (spread over 2 consecutive days 10am- 1pm with a break)

online 90 minute courses either 10.30am-12pm or 2pm- 3.30pm

Social workers can choose to count courses towards their professional development.

Video Recording-  Due to General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR),  privacy and copyright  restrictions we request no recording of online training.

£165 online 1 day course (£64 online 90 minute courses)

Solicitors and financial services

£250 online 1 day course (£75 online 90 minute courses)

(5.25 hours(1.5 hours) CPD accreditation available).  Our allocated CPD reference is EJV/SWTL.

VAT will be added to the cost.
