The Benefits System is complex due to the huge number of qualifying conditions, the many changes each year and not least the interaction between the different benefits. This course will include—

  • why we have different categories of benefits
  • the structure of the benefits system, including key cards for over 20 benefits
  • the qualifying conditions for the main benefits including Job Seekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, Housing and Council Tax Benefit, Child and Working Tax Credits,  Universal Credit and PIP
  • valid claims and appeals
  • maximising benefits; underclaimed benefits and premiums
  • how to sign post and refer cases
  • at a glance guide to the structure of the benefits system
  • briefly,  the main changes to benefits over the last year;  at a glance guide to proposed benefit changes; common and topical benefit problems your clients will experience
