Personal Independence Payments have started to replace Disability Living Allowance for working age clients since April 2013. 2 million DLA claimants are currently being reassessed.
One aim is to cut the overall bill by 20%. The government is aiming to remove entitlement to DLA for 1 in 4 current claimants(around 500,000).
This course will include details on-
- Reasons for change, basics of Personal Independence Payment in key card format, cost implications, timetable for changes- which clients are likely to be affected and when, passporting
- a recap. on the law on- Non disability and disability rules, possible losers/ winners
- changes in March 2017 to the descriptors
- assessment and appeals
- caselaw
- how to challenge decisions- a chance to exchange information on good advocacy techniques
- a chance to discuss with other participants how you might respond both as an organisation and with your clients in mind
- at a glance guide between the new(Personal Independence Payments) and old system(Disability Living Allowance)
